Forge Fire Outdoors ("Forge Fire Outdoors", "we", "us") is based in Alberta, Canada. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit forgefireoutdoors.com or buy from us, how we use it, and the choices you have. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
What we collect
- Order information: your name, email address, phone number, billing address and shipping address when you place an order.
- Payment information: payments are processed by Shopify and its payment partners. We never see or store your full card number.
- Messages: anything you send us through our contact form or by email.
- Newsletter sign-ups: your email address, if you choose to join our mailing list.
- Device and browsing information: your IP address, browser type, the pages you view and how you arrived at our site. This is collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies.
How we use it
- To process, ship and support your order, including sending order and shipping updates.
- To answer your questions and handle returns.
- To send you news and offers, only if you've opted in. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, in line with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
- To keep our site secure and prevent fraud.
- To understand how people use our site so we can improve it.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the store, and only what they need to do their job:
- Shopify, which hosts our store and processes payments.
- Shipping carriers such as Canada Post, which need your name and address to deliver your order.
- Google Workspace, which hosts our email.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Storage outside Canada
Some of our service providers, including Shopify and Google, store and process information outside Canada, including in the United States. While it's there, it may be subject to the laws of that country, and authorities there may be able to access it. You can contact us (see below) for more information about how our service providers outside Canada handle personal information.
Cookies
Our site uses cookies to keep your cart working, remember your preferences and understand site traffic. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the site, like checkout, may not work without them.
How long we keep it
We keep order records as long as we need them to support your purchase and to meet tax and accounting requirements, which is generally up to seven years. Newsletter information is kept until you unsubscribe.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to:
- see the personal information we hold about you,
- correct it if it's wrong,
- withdraw your consent to marketing at any time, or
- have your information deleted where we're not required to keep it.
